Science and Maths in Music?

I’m not a big fan of the band Tool, actually I wouldn’t even know about them if it wasn’t for my friend. But I have to say that the way they compose their music is pretty damn cool. I was listening to one of their songs called Forty Six and Two and wondered what it’s all about and so I browsed the song on YouTube and found an awesome video that explains everything about it. The music playing in the background is indeed the song itself.

Well actually to be frank, I couldn’t even understand much about what is explained there. Then I recalled a video that explains about their song called Lateralus which that same friend of mine shown it to me when he was trying to make me comprehend how great his band is. The timing of the song was based on an arrangement of fibonacci numbers, in other words, fucked up mathematics!

And I still couldn’t even count the beats of the first part properly. 1,1,2,3,5,8,13?! Without the syllables of the lyrics, I don’t think I could count shits at all! Apparently the facts of these songs were discovered by Harvard students
