Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief | Movie review

I cannot believe this movie actually holds a 49% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes; I cannot believe that this lead actor was the kid that acted in Butterfly Effect; and I cannot believe that Uma Thurman and Pierce Brosnan actually accepted to be apart of something as lame and dumb as this! Poor script, unpredictably predictable sequences in most scenes with the others are just unpredictably stupid, and extremely terrible acting. Like my friend said when the cinema screen was showing the main actor, “What a useless actor, the girl also!”. Which is sad because the girl is actually quite hot.

The movie is actually adapted from a serial novel of the same title and to be fair, the idea of having Olympian demigods on Earth at present time is actually quite awesome but they (the filmmakers) screwed it all up. The Lightning Thief is only the first of its many books and if the film producers were to adapt the others into films, they MUST acquire a better director, screen-writer and lead actor at least otherwise I highly doubt that the sequels would be any better than this one.

Verdict: The idea was cool but they fucked it up. The script was like as though it was written for an adventure/RPG video game but most games do not leave too many things unexplained. In overall, the show was a total waste of time, effort and money to me.

Worst scene: (SPOILER ALERT) When Percy Jackson woke up in the infirmary of the camp and realised that his mother is most probably dead, he was emotionless (SPOILER ENDS).

Rating: 0.5 / 5
