Movie Review: HOP (2011)

Rated: U
Genre: Animated feature, comedy, family
Running Time: 1 Hour 34 Minutes
Director: Tim Hill
Cast: Russell Brand, James Marsden, Kaley Cuoco

“Hop tells the comic tale of Fred (James Marsden), an out-of-work slacker who accidentally injures the Easter Bunny (voiced by Russell Brand) and must take him in as he recovers. As Fred struggles with the world’s worst houseguest, both will learn what it takes to finally grow up.” -United International Pictures

Verdict: Just as I expected, it’s a film for little kids and grown girls that are easily amused. It was as unentertaining as ‘Alvin & The Chipmunks’ and ‘Garfield’ to me.

Funniest quote: (SPOILER BEGINS HERE) David Hasselhoff: “Please, my best friend was a talking car.” If you didn’t know, Hasselhoff was the actor who played the protagonist of the original ‘Knight Rider’ TV series and KITT is the name of the high-tech artificial intelligent car that he partners up in the show. (SPOILER ENDS HERE)

Worst scene: Definitely the ending. It’s like as though the script-writer gave up on himself after realising that his work was crap and there was no way of saving it.

Why oh why… do the rabbits have British accents? Why, after 20 years, the chicks are still not chickens yet?

Rating: 1.5 / 5

Her verdict: “Er… okay only lah.”
