Verdict: Nothing I tasted at ZenQ Desserts was more spectacular than the other similar dessert outlets around. Personally, Snowflake is still the top for me and it’s not only because of how tasty their desserts are, but also because the portion and price are very reasonable as well. Don’t get me wrong, I did enjoy most of the things I tried at ZenQ Desserts but what do they have to offer that the other dessert places don’t? The healthy stuffs served commonly in kindergardens and Chinese restaurants? Put pearls into everything served? Not enough. And it’s not like the pricing is low nor is the environment any better. Broaden the menu, then we’ll talk again.
Favourite: “ZenQ Signature” (RM7.50) – Both the price and taste are not as worthy compared to Snowflake but it has its different ingredients such as Grass Jelly, Q Ball and Crystal Noodles. People who love Snowflake‘s desserts would most likely enjoy this one too.
Least favourite: “Green Bean Barley” (RM5.90) – I never liked barley and this one didn’t change that. Not sure if I was supposed to bite the beans but they taste bitterly weird. It’s like biting on ginsengs. But healthy dessert nonetheless.
Most unusual: “Taro Milk Shaved Ice” (RM7.50) – Never heard of ice-blending taro and milk together. Tasted kinda good to me.
Ridiculous naming: ZenQ Desserts‘ “Shaved Ice” series is basically just ice-blended desserts. Names such as “Strawberry Shaved Ice” would certainly crack people like me up a little.
