Genre: Action horror
Running Time: 1 Hour 45 Minutes
Director: Timur Bekmambetov
Cast: Benjamin Walker, Rufus Sewell and Dominic Cooper
Synopsis: “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter explores the secret life of one of the greatest US presidents, and the untold story that shaped a nation. Visionary filmmakers Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov (director of Wanted) bring a fresh and visceral voice to the bloodthirsty lore of the vampire, imagining Lincoln as history’s greatest hunter of the undead” (20th Century Fox).
Verdict: Yet another Tim Burton-involved production that turned out disappointing. This is a terrible, and not to mention a little bit unfaithful, adaptation of the book. Lazy script, unengaging, very predictable, didn’t make any good use of the typical corny movie cliches featured, impatient character development, and the action is unimpressive as well. Sure, the idea of the president wielding an axe to fight vampires and stuff is incredibly cool but to make a film out of it, it has to be done with a little more effort. If you’re looking for something entertaining or intelligent to watch, look elsewhere because Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is just a typical hyped up garbage.
Second opinion: “Average movie, neither boring nor exciting” (Iris Loong).
Malaysian censorship: Nothing was cut at the premiere. Nothing much to censor anyway.
What would’ve been more interesting to us: Najib Razak: Vampire Hunter. A good fictional cover-up on why so much of the Rakyat’s money is controversially spent. And of course, it would be absolutely hilarious to see a fat ass fight some vampires.
Rating: 1 / 5

Incorrect sequence: The part where Abraham is getting trained to fight shows that he has recovered from the injuries from his first attempt to kill Jack Barts. But after the training, Abraham’s injury can be seen again in the scene where Henry shows him some photos of the lead vampires.
Most unfunny line: “I hope you could do better with an axe than with a gun ha-ha-ha.”
Lamest scene: The ending where the leader of vampires, Adam, suddenly becomes an easy kill for Abraham with a single punch. And then the female vampire, Vadoma, with no real agenda, runs towards Mary (Abraham’s wife) at the Lincoln’s army camp just to be killed by her in the most corniest fashion. It’s so dumb, this scene alone got me slashing another 0.5 off my final rating.
