UFC Fight Night 32: Careless Henderson invites KO-headkick from Belfort

UFC Fight Night 32 - Vitor Belfort's headkick that KO-ed Dan Henderson

Vitor Belfort knocks Dan Henderson out in the very first round

Yeah, I know I’m a bit late to still wanna talk about it so it’s only going to be a quick one about the main event. First of all, I think everyone must know what an MMA legend Dan Henderson is ’cause even I didn’t until recently when I read up on Wikipedia. He was the only fighter to ever hold two titles of different weightclasses from two different major MMA promotions at the same time. He’s 43 years old today and is still competing against few of the best in the UFC unfortunately he has lost his last 3 fights including this one against Vitor Belfort. The only reason why he’s still not hanging up his gloves, I believe, is because he hasn’t won a title in the UFC and I seriously doubt he could at this age. Although he may not be remembered as a champion in the UFC, but he’s already one of the greatest of all time to long-time MMA fans.

The first minute of the bout seemed like it was going to be a boring range-finding, water-testing round. A few seconds later Henderson went in with a very slow face-down punch attempt which Belfort countered with an accurate uppercut to the chin, dropped him and exploded with non-stop ground and pound. Henderson tried to get back onto his feet right in front of Belfort and ended up getting kicked to the head so hard that he was sent to the hospital. It was like a red carpet for Belfort to chop his head off. This was the first ever knockout loss in Henderson’s looooong career. Next up for Belfort? Dana White didn’t give a clear answer but I’d certainly would love to see him going for the Light Heavyweight title against Jon Jones, who’s undisputed since 2011.
