Malaysia Movie Updates: Animation with unusual concept art, The Book of Life premieres worldwide next week

Latest trailers of Interstellar and Jupiter Ascending are intense!

Co-produced by Guillermo del Toro (Pacific RimPan’s Labyrinth), The Book of Life is a 3D animated adventure comedy about the journey of Manolo (Diego Luna), a young man who is torn between fulfilling the expectations of his family and following his heart. Before choosing which path to follow, he embarks on an incredible adventure that spans three fantastical worlds where he must face his greatest fears. With a fresh take on pop music favorites, The Book of Life intends to encourage audience to celebrate the past while looking forward to the future. Main voice cast includes Zoe Saldana (The Guardians of the GalaxyAvatar) and Channing Tatum (22 Jump StreetMagic MikeG.I. Joe).

Not exactly convinced by the story or the humour in the trailers but the visual style of the film is certainly very different from most Hollywood animations. Premiering with the rest of the world, The Book of Life set to be shown at Malaysian cinemas next week on the 16th. I will be catching the preview screening later this morning so stay tuned my review which will be up within the next few days.

The highly anticipated upcoming science fiction film, Interstellar, has got a new trailer and here we get to see some spoilers with Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway struggling in outer space and planet(s) light-years away from Earth:

Directed and co-written by Christopher Nolan (Inception, The Dark KnightMomento), Interstellar is set in a future where human’s time on Earth is coming to an end and due to that, a team of explorers must travel beyond the galaxy to discover whether mankind has a future among the stars. The film is set to released in Malaysia on 6 November this year and I just can’t wait to watch this one. Most of Nolan’s films are simply brilliant.

The release of Jupiter Ascending may have been postponed to February 5th next year, but it seems that they’re wasting no time completing the film’s special effects and preparing more effective marketing campaigns and media. Initially, I didn’t feel like watching this movie at all, but its latest trailer has changed that. There’s one cool thing I didn’t notice in the previous trailers – giant battle robots (mecha) in space! That’s going to be a major selling point. Check it out:

Directed and written by the Wachowskis (The Matrix Trilogy, Cloud Atlas), Jupiter Ascending is an epic space opera about a house cleaner (Mila Kunis) who one day meets a genetically engineered ex-military hunter (Channing Tatum) and from him, she learns that her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos (basically princess of the universe, I think).
