Malaysia Movie Updates: GSC releases James Cameron’s epic documentary Deepsea Challenge 3D, romance drama based on author Cecelia Ahern’s novel Love, Rosie to hit local cinemas 23 Oct.

There hasn’t been much publicity about James Cameron’s 2014 documentary film Deepsea Challenge 3D and frankly, I wouldn’t have heard of it if GSC Movies didn’t suddenly decide to release here. Cameron, the producer and director of multiple big films (such as Titanic, Avatar, Aliens, The Terminator, just to name a few), made his long-life dream came true by piloting a self-designed craft to the bottom of Challenger Deep, the deepest known point on Earth, in the sea at the southern end of the Mariana Trench with depth of almost 11,000 metres, all by himself. And he didn’t do it without bringing some high definition 3-D cameras along.

Catch the chronicles of Cameron’s epic solo dive at selected GSC cinema outlets starting tomorrow (16 October 2014) and expect some immersive viewing experience.

For the ladies, and maybe dudes, who just can’t resist romantic chick flicks, here’s one coming soon for you next week (23 October 2014). Based on the 2014 novel Where Rainbows End by Cecelia Ahern (who wrote PS, I Love You), Love, Rosie is about a pair of best friends who grew up together since they were kids but after being separated, they gradually discover that they might love each other more than just mere buddies.

This love story stars Lily Collins (Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, Mirror, Mirror) and Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Snow White and the HuntsmanPirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides), directed and written by Christian Ditter and Juliette Towhidi respectively, who I’ve never heard of.

In conjunction with the launch of Microsoft Device’s Lumia 830 and Lumia 735 a few weeks ago, GSC announced that the GSC Mobile App will be available on Windows Phone 8.1 in early October, which should be now, I believe. Windows Phone users can now feel less left out as they, too, can check out, book and manage movie tickets conveniently from their mobile device.

Launch of GSC Mobile App on Windows Phone and Microsoft Lumix 830 and Lumix 735 in Malaysia.
