Opens 29 Jan: ‘Stand By Me Doraemon 3D’, ‘The Last: Naruto the Movie’

Stand by Me Doraemon The Last Naruto the Movie malaysia

Hitting Malaysia this week: Doraemon character appearances to promote Stand By Me, GSC releases The Last: Naruto the Movie ahead of the U.S.

So after almost 6 months of Stand By Me Doraemon‘s release in Japan, we finally have a local distributor (Mega Films Distribution) who’s willing to bring in the latest and first ever 3D animated version of the most iconic Japanese manga and anime of all time. Both original Japanese and Malay dubbed versions will be available at local big screens starting from 29 January (not available at GSC cinemas). It’s basically a reboot and a loose adaptation of the first seven volumes of the manga series. To read the review on the film, click here.

Some characters from Doraemon will be making appearances in public to the promote the movie this long weekend (this coming Monday and Tuesday are holidays if you work in KL). Here’s the schedule and venue;

Saturday 31 Jan.
– MBO KSL JB – 3.30pm
– TGV Terbrau JB – 2pm and 5pm

Sunday 1 Feb.
– TGV Wangsa Walk Ampang – 2pm
– TGV Rawang – 8pm

Monday 2 Feb.
– TGV Bukit Raja – 2pm
– Premium X One City Mall – 4pm
– TGV Mines – 8pm

Tuesday 3 Feb.
– MBO Subang Parade – 3pm
– TGV Strand – 5pm and 8pm

I highly doubt The Last: Naruto the Movie would literally be the last Naruto movie but it is apparently a buildup towards the final chapter in the manga series. I did not receive the press release but I would assume that it will only be playing at certain GSC cinemas starting from 29 January. Unlike Stand by Me Doraemon, this 2D anime feature film was only released in Japan last month so you can only watch it at the cinemas for now.

Since I know absolutely nothing about this anime/manga, I shall not attempt to review it. Stay tuned for more selective updates on movies in Malaysia. Follow me: Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | Google+
