Bounce and flying-kick into this 6 KM fun run with martial-art-themed inflatable challenges

Debuting soon at The Horse Ranch in Gohtong Jaya, Genting Highlands on 14 and 15 May, Dragon Run is apparently going to be the world’s first ever martial art-themed inflatable obstacle fun run. Get ready to test your endurance, agility and balance through the 6 KM + running distance and the 10 colourful, gigantic inflatable obstacles in the martial art styles of Dragon Kung Fu, Taekwondo, Muay Thai, Sumo and Jeet Kune Do. No martial arts experience required at all.

dragon run malaysia genting inflatables muay thai kick palm treeI’ve had the privilege to attend the media preview recently to try out some of the inflatable obstacles and I have to admit, it was pretty fun indeed despite the poor weather that day. As mentioned, it’s a fun run, not an actual obstacle race and thus I doubt there’d be any sort of refereeing. However, the obstacles are more than doable and mostly safe despite the minor friction burn I got from kneeing and elbowing the inflatable palm tree (one of the “obstacles” in the Muay Thai-themed section).

It’s basically like a huge playground for both adults and kids, you practically can’t fail and it’d make you feel like an unbeatable hero on an adventure. The real challenge for those who hardly go for jogs is the 6 KM + distance. According to the route planning, the run kicks off with the Dragon Gate/Giant Dragon and then majority of the first half of it will be nothing but running before we reach the other obstacles. Be sure to bring some clothes to change ’cause you might need to be like water, my friend (hint hint).

After or before your run, you can hang around at the Dragon Village, where there’ll be food and beverages, carnival games, combat demonstrations and live feed of the run. Dragon Warriors aged 12 and below can enjoy themselves at the delicious candy-inspired bouncy castle by Sweetwalk. There’ll also be children activities like face painting, balloon twisting and other carnival games for an entertaining family day out at the cool plains of Genting Highlands.
