The annual Japanese Film Festival (JFF) is set to the return for the 14th year in Malaysia on 7 September until 1 October with a selection of 14 films from Japan that Malaysian moviegoers have yet to see on big screens here — manga live action adaptations (Midnight Diner 2, ReLIFE, Seto and Utsumi, Teiichi: Battle of Supreme High), award-winning titles (blank 13, Her Love Boils Bathwater, The Projects), documentaries (Tsukiji Wonderland, Tora-san of Goto) and more.

So get ready to immerse yourselves into the fascinating Japanese culture at these participating Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) on these dates;

• KLANG VALLEY: 7 – 13 September
(GSC Mid Valley Megamall, 1 Utama, Pavilion KL, NU Sentral)

• PENANG: 14 – 17 September
(GSC Gurney Plaza)

• KUCHING: 21- 24 September
(GSC CityONE Megamall)

• KOTA KINABALU: 28 September- 1 October
(GSC Suria Sabah)

Last year’s JFF Guest of Honour was Kiki Kirin who’s a great veteran actress. This year, the organiser Japan Foundation manages to invite Saitoh Takumi to visit Malaysia on 5 September to do a meet-and-greet session, present the special preview of his drama blank 13 and attend the opening ceremony of JFF 2017 — all will be happening at Pavilion KL. The matinee actor-cum-singer-cum-director stars in The Projects and won the Asian New Talent Award for Best Director at the 20th Shanghai International Film Festival for blank 13, which was his first time directing a feature-length film — both titles are in the JFF 2017 lineup of films.

Tickets are priced at RM8.00 each (incl. of 6% GST) except for Midnight Diner 2 and Tsukiji Wonderland which will be sold at prevailing ticket pricing. Tickets for all screenings (Klang Valley, Penang, Kuching, and Kota Kinabalu) can be purchased from 31 August onwards via GSC box office, GSC e-payment at gsc.com.my, or GSC mobile app. For more info, visit JFF 2017’s official website here.
